GRAND TOUR INDIA AND NEPAL - 17 DAYS

Grand tour to discover the capital of India, Delhi, the atmosphere of Rajasthan by visiting Jaipur “the Pink City”, the city of Agra with India’s most famous art masterpiece the Taj Mahal, Khajuraho famous for its temples with the erotic statues and Varanasi the sacred city for Hindus combined with the mystical charm of Nepal and the Kathmandu valley with its temples, mountains, national park with its luxuriant nature.

DAY 01: ITALY – DELHI

Departure from Italy with a scheduled flight to Delhi. Upon arrival customs formalities, meeting with our representative, and transfer to hotel for overnight.

DAY 02: DELHI

Breakfast at the hotel and a Guided tour in Italian of the old city, a charming and picturesque maze of narrow streets, divided into two parts by the Via dell’Argento, a colorful and lively succession of shops and bazaars. In the same area you can visit the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in the world, built in 1650. Afternoon visit of New Delhi with its most important monuments: the Qutub Minar complex, the Mausoleum of Emperor Humayun, and the government buildings from the colonial era in front of the India Gate. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 03: DELHI – JAIPUR (265 km. 6 hours approx)

After breakfast depart for Jaipur, the Pink City. Arrival and accommodation at the hotel. Afternoon visits the famous monkey temple (Galta Ji Mandir or simply the Monkeys temple). Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 04: JAIPUR

Breakfast at the hotel and whole day dedicated to visiting the “pink city”, the capital of Rajasthan, a first-rate commercial and tourist hub, today a center of at least 1,300,000 people, located in a semi-desert area. Jaipur is striking because it is architecturally ordered according to precise geometries. It is famous for its pink sandstone buildings, but it seems that the name derives from an episode of 1876, when Jaipur was repainted pink for the visit of the Prince of Wales. The first visit will be made to the Amber Fort, 11 km. from Jaipur. The last part of the climb to the Fort is covered on the back of placid elephants to better enter the spirit of the places. Inside the walls you can visit palaces and pavilions of refined beauty and the small temple of the Goddess Kali. Then visit the city proper: the Observatory, full of exceptionally large instruments and where the “Sancrat” (the Prince of the Sundial), a 90-foot-tall gnomon, is found; to the Palazzo del Vento, which stands on one of the main streets of the city, a curious elaborate and imaginative palace but at the same time a clear example of oriental art also built with “desert stone”; and finally visit the Maharaja’s Palace dating back to 1570. DAY 05: JAIPUR – FATEHPUR SIKRI – AGRA (232 km. 5 hours approx)

After breakfast and at 08:00 departure for Agra, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri to visit the deserted 16th century city, abandoned after only 14 years of its construction, with beautiful red sandstone buildings. Arrive Agra and check into hotel, afternoon visit Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world, a magnificent marble dream that rises in the middle of a lush garden like a pearl in a kind of immaculate landscape. Its beauty transcends all description, built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1631 in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died during the birth of his 14th son after 17 years of marriage. To erect the monument, precious stones of all kinds, pearls, corals were collected and 20,000 of the best craftsmen were called from all over the kingdom. which took 22 years to complete this masterpiece. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 06 : AGRA – ORCHA – KHAJURAHO

Transfer to the railway station and departure by Bhopal Shatabadi train at 08:11 am to Jhansi (2 stops in between) arrival in Jhansi at 10:45 am, meet our representative and then visit Orccha which was the capital of one feudal state in the 17th century. We will visit: Raj Mahal, Rai Parveen Mahal and Jahangir Mahal, built by various Maharajas in a style reminiscent of Rajasthani architecture. Transfer by car to Khajuraho (190 km. DAY 08: VARANASI – KATHMANDU

Wake up before dawn. Boat ride on the Ganges River to witness the purification rituals and offerings of pilgrims to the rising sun. Walking tour of the ancient city with stops at the Golden Temple and the Aurangzeb Mosque. Return for breakfast and transfer to the airport. Flight to Kathmandu, upon arrival, meet our local representative in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 09: KATHMANDU

Breakfast at the hotel and excursion to Bhaktapur also known as Bhadgaon. This town is one of the most representative in the area of ​​the Kathmandu valley, rich in precious sacred monuments. Afternoon in Pashupatinath, a sacred place for the Nepalese, a town that stands on the banks of the sacred Bagmati river and where cremations take place. Visit the wonderful Bodhnath stupa. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 10: KATHMANDU

After breakfast, a full day is dedicated to visits to the main places of interest in the city. Stops will be made at the Durbar Square; to the Palace of the Child Goddess, Kumari, and the wonderfully large Swayambhunath stupa, said to be 2,500 years old. For centuries this area was an important center of Buddhist Sudra studies. In the afternoon, visit the city of Patan. This city, three miles from the capital, is considered the artistic city par excellence in the country. Rich in Buddhist monuments and palaces adorned with wood carvings and sculptures, it is said to have been founded in 299 AD. Of Patan are to remember: the Hianya Varna Mahavihar, a temple of the seventh century; the Hindu temple of Shiva, in the courtyard of which there is a source of natural water; the Vishnu temple, full of ancient religious paintings; the Durbar Square, once the center of power of the Malla kings; the 13th-century Machendra Nath Temple; and finally the Stupa of Ashoka, one of the four erected in Patan to commemorate the pilgrimage of this emperor in the Kathmandu valley in 246 BC. DAY 11: KATHMANDU – POKHARA (220 km. 6 hours approx)

Departure in the morning for the Pokhara Valley, located at an altitude of 900m. In a very beautiful natural landscape, it is one of the charming places in Nepal that almost everyone talks about, but no one has actually visited. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Lunch, free afternoon for relaxation or for a tour of the bazaars that crowd the lakefront. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 12: POKHARA

Sightseeing of Pokhara, and a boat ride on Phewa lake. Afternoon at leisure for relaxation or for guided walks in the hilly area. Full Board at the hotel.

DAY 13: POKHARA – CHITWAN (170 km. 6 hours approx)

Breakfast at Hotel: At sunrise, the option to go to a viewpoint outside Pokhara to admire the peaks of Annapurna massif and Fish Tail (Machapuchare). After lunch transfer to the Chitwan National Park, the most famous in Nepal, lying on lush hills covered with forests, home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, crocodiles, deer, wild boar, sloths, leopards, almost a thousand species of birds, but above all it is a place where it is possible to spot very rare one-horned rhinoceros. Upon arrival accommodation in the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 14: CHITWAN

A day dedicated to safaris (2) in the park: on foot, by canoe, on the back of an elephant, by off-road vehicle to spot crocodiles, watch the elephants bathe, and spot the birds that live along the Narayani River. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

DAY 15: CHITWAN – KATHMANDU – NAGARKOT (205 km. 7 hours approx)

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Nagarkot which is located on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu valley from where you can watch the sunset over the Himalayas (The hill called Nagarkot has over 2,000 meters above the sea level and is the second highest peak in the Kathmandu Valley). Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 16: NAGARKOT – KATHMANDU – DELHI

Breakfast at the Hotel: A magical sunrise on the highest peaks in the world, morning at leisure for a small trek through the Nepalese villages populated by colorful ethnic minorities. Transfer to Kathmandu international airport (40 km. Approximately 1 hour) and departure to Delhi with internal flight. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel near the airport. Dinner at the hotel and in good time transfer to the Delhi International Airport.

DAY 17: DELHI – ITALY

Departure with a scheduled flight to Italy and overnight on board. On the early morning arrival in Italy.
